Laurie_Zinkand_Selles_Art_Toronto2In October 2014, some of my recent work was included in the Open Studio Print Sales Gallery booth at Art Toronto 2014. It was great to see such a variety of print-based work among the 23 artists whose work was presented.

Lost Temple, my first, but not last 3d-print was exhibited, part of a recent body of work based on old maps of Toronto. The inspiration for this work came from a postcard of the Temple Building, completed in 1896.

Lost Temple

At 12 stories, it was one of the city’s first skyscrapers, and was the headquarters of the Independent Order of Foresters. This building, sadly, no longer exists, as it was torn down in 1970, to build the Queen-Bay Centre. It was certainly a loss for Toronto’s architectural history.
